If you haven’t heard string band music from the 1920′s or 30′s you’re missing out on a real treat: screeching fiddles, scratchy recordings, off key harmonies and unbelievably great performances. Well, a new compilation is being released with some very rare old recordings. The 2 CD set is called I’m Going Down to North Carlonia and is a compilation of the complete recordings of the Red Fox Chasers from 1928-1931.
Complete Recordings of the Red Fox Chasers
To celebrate this release there will be a great night of music at the Jalopy Theater in Red Hook, Brooklyn on Thursday, September 17th at 9:00 pm.
On the bill will be
- Peter Stampfel
- John Cohen of the New Lost City Ramblers
- Dom Flemons of the Carolina Chocolate Drops
- and, of course, The Strung Out String Band
We truly hope to see all you come out to the show and buy a copy of the amazing CD.
